Virtual Packing Slip
Scope:
This project aims to introduce a virtual packing slip system for sellers on OSAI, replacing printed slips and streamlining the fulfillment process.
Features:
Free Tier:
Virtual Packing Slip: Eliminate printed slips with an interactive checklist viewable directly within the fulfillment flow.
Customizable Checklists: Create and manage personalized checklists specific to each order or product category.
Basic Automation: Reminder to include frequently used items (e.g., thank you notes, logo stickers, etc) with a single click.
Premium Tier (Subscription or One-Time Fee) **for a later time**:
Advanced Automation: Set trigger points for automatic inclusion of items based on order value, specific products, or other criteria.
use as a selling point "include incentives for sellers to buy more if they spend over $dollar amount" maybe
Inventory Management: Integrate with inventory to track and manage packing supplies directly within the checklist.
Branded Experience: Include custom logo, messages, and branding elements within the virtual slip.
Future: We see big trends on Tiktok shop about "watch your order be packaged! see who's packing your order" - buyers really like that connected experience. So maybe down the line, we could have a consolidated printable slip, but with information about who packed the order, the thank you note on the slip, etc
Buyer Visibility (Future): Allow buyers to see who packed their order and when (requires further discussion and feasibility analysis).
Approach:
Define MVP (Minimum Viable Product): Start with the core virtual packing slip and basic automation features for the free tier.
User Research & Iterative Design: Look at current, traditional (paper) order packing workflows to refine the user experience and functionalities.
Technical Integrations: Integrate the virtual packing slip with the existing order fulfillment flow and consider potential inventory management (what happens to the inventory when the seller grabs the sweatshirt? it goes down, right?) connections.
Marketing & Adoption: Develop messaging throughout the app to drive awareness and adoption of the new feature among sellers.
Team Responsibility Breakdown:
Lauren Braun, Kshitij Patil: Define default checklist items, and user settings to enable/customize the feature.
What does it look like for the seller when they want to set this feature up? (will need to do this in settings)
What does the virtual packing slip look like?
It could either go somewhere on the order fulfillment screen (a card) or may need to be a separate screen between Chi & Kshitij's flows. Catherine will focus on this.
Definitely need a check list
Look at traditional packing slips and make the content friendly and quick. Optimize for clarity and speed.
How does the seller go about grabbing the item and checking it off, how could OSAI help sellers mitigate forgotten products?
It would be something like "Sweatshirt [check ], Thank You note [check ], Water bottle free (because buyer purchased something over $...dollar amount [check ]"
Then a confirmation that says okay you've grabbed everything! let's ship! or something
Catherine Lin, Kshitij Patil: Design and develop the interactive tooltip/snackbar interface and manage interactions within the fulfillment flow.
Chi Quach: Integrate the virtual packing slip seamlessly into the existing order fulfillment workflow.
Bryce Lee: Will integrate a message about this into the dashboard > under orders at a glance.
Question:
Would it be quicker to do this packing slip before or after the shipping label is generated/printed or after?
Benefits/Value Prop:
Reduced Paper Waste: Eliminates printing paper, promoting sustainability and cost savings.
Improved Efficiency: Streamlines packing flow with checklists and automation, saving time and reducing errors.
Enhanced Branding: Allows sellers to personalize the packing experience with custom elements. (Paid/monetized, Future)
Increased Transparency (Future): Provides buyers with added peace of mind and a connection to the seller.
Additional Notes:
For more detail on your specific contribution, view your tasks specifically on your page.
Consider adding sorting and filtering options for checklists based on order criteria.
Explore the feasibility and user interest in the buyer visibility feature, keeping data privacy and security in mind.
By implementing this Pack Perfect system, OSAI can empower sellers to pack efficiently, sustainably, and with a personalized touch, while aligning with the platform's focus on functionality and automation.
Lauren, maybe you can look at this for an idea of how seller can manage packing slip settings
